Regents present update on search for 17th president
View allIn a message to the U-M community May 4, the U-M Board of Regents said it has re-engaged in the search for the 17th president of the University of Michigan.
“We remain committed to identifying and hiring a visionary, dynamic leader who embodies our core values and has a proven record of excellence leading complex organizations,” the message said.
The regents will continue working with executive search firm Spencer Stuart, which brings extensive experience in higher education leadership searches. Search consultants are Mary Gorman, partner, education and social impact practice, and Alexis Stiles, global leader, healthcare practice.
“Only a few months have passed since Kent Syverud was announced as president. Therefore, we will continue with the exact same Presidential Search Committee in order to maintain continuity of the process with individuals who have benefited from insights gained during listening sessions convened across our campuses,” the message said. “Additionally, the same committee will have the benefit of a common evaluative experience that will inform this new phase in the search.”
The board expressed appreciation to the members of the Search Advisory Committee for continuing to support the process and their willingness to serve.
Additional information about the committee, including member bios, is available on the Presidential Search website.
