The University of Michigan is deeply committed to climate action, sustainability, and environmental justice. These values are reflected as a core impact area in the presidential initiative Look to Michigan, and reinforce our shared commitment to carbon neutrality. In February, U-M announced plans to build 25 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaics across the Dearborn, Flint, and Ann Arbor campuses. Radial Power was selected through a comprehensive RFP process. Large rooftops, existing parking decks, and parking lots will be prioritized for this project, with flexibility to consider ground-mounted arrays. The total amount of electricity that would be generated by the installations is estimated to equal the power consumed by approximately 3,000 homes annually.
